Recent Kempinski Bristol Berlin Review: "The Kempinski is in a great location, just off the Ku'damm, which is full of shops, restaurants and cafes. It's extremely convenient for public transport, buses and U-Bahn. It is also only about a ten minute walk from the Zoologischer Garten station, to where we got the Express train from the Airport (Schoenfeld). This is a great and efficient service, and very inexpensive (less than 3 Euro. Buy your ticket at a machine -zones ABC- and then validate your ticket at the machine on the platform before getting on the train). You can also get a ticket here for all city buses, U and S-Bahn for about 2.20 Euro per day.
As regards the hotel, we found the staff to be very friendly, and had good English. The pool is wirth a try, and although is a bit small for the dedicated swimmers, we founf=d to be very refreshing after walking around the city. Prices for breakfast and meals in the hotel were a bit expensive, but there is a great Starbucks just across the road for breakfast. I'd also recommend a little Thai restaurant just 50 metres from the hotel on Fasanenstrase - turn left on exiting the hotel. There are many other restaurants in the general area, on the Ku'damm heading towards the Zoo, and in the opposite direction all around Savigny Platz and Uhlandstrase.
the room we had (Superior) was fine, nice and spacious and comfortable. Those with allergies would need to ask for hypo-allergenic quilts and pillows, which are available from housekeeping. With the double windows closed, there was no street noise in the room, despite the central location. However, the air conditioning wasn't good enough to keep the room cool and airy - but this was a relatively minor fault. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. It may be a bit pricey, but it's definately worth it for the location. Don't know about going back to Berlin (Bundestag is worth a visit) but if I did, I'd definately stay here again."
